Blair's dossier on Iraq goes down like a lead balloon
Dr. Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, leader of the Muslim Parliament, has
issued the following statement:
The long awaited dossier on Iraq released today by the Government
contains nothing new. The mere fact of it having been issued barely
3 hours before the debate in the Parliament is in itself indicative
of its inherent weaknesses. The Government sought to cloak the weakness
of its own position by not exposing it to expert's scrutiny. Nonetheless
the document is sufficiently damaging and more so to Tony Blair
than Saddam Hussain. To suggest that the British people are in danger
from Iraq is the height of absurdity since even if Iraq had weapons
of mass destruction it has no means of delivery.
This US administration is full of warmongers. The continuing conflict
with Iraq provides them with the pretext they need to control the
Middle East and link its mineral resources to the needs of the American
economy.
The debate in the Parliament is an exercise in window dressing
designed to rubberstamp the US policy objectives.
If the war were to go ahead we would be moving towards an uncertain
future and a world even more unstable than we have at present.
