Reclaim Islam from the extremists, says Dr Siddiqui
Dr. Ghayassudin Siddiqui, leader of the Muslim Parliament, has
been invited to speak at the special session on “Muslim response
to last Thursday’s terror attacks in London” by one
of the leading Pakistani Group, “Jama’at-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat”,
during their annual national conference on Sunday 17th July, at
Gamgoal Sharif Mosque, Golden Hillock Road, Small Heath, Birmingham.
The special English session will be held from 4.00 – 5.00pm.
The conference is expected to attract some 3000 people.
In his speech Dr. Siddiqui will make the following points:
Muslims need to reclaim Islam from the extremists. Islam is about
social justice, tolerance and equality. It seeks to establish a
just, enlightened and egalitarian society in which all human beings
are equal to God and under the law. It was this Islam which created
one of the most dynamic societies in history, the achievements of
which gave rise to what is known in Europe as the Renaissance. Intolerant
Islam, which shows no respect for any of these qualities and is
a negation of Islam’s own civilisational record, is an aberrant
phenomenon peculiar to our times and arose as a consequence of the
convergence between Whahabist teachings and the nefarious aims of
the British and the American secret services in the wake of the
Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979.
For far too long Muslims in their traditional spirit of tolerance
have tolerated presence of this movement within their ranks. But
it is now up-to them to repudiate it.
