7/7 atrocities could revisit if public inquiry not held, says Siddiqui.
Dr. Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, leader of the Muslim Parliament, told ITV and LBC that 7/7 atrocities could revisit us if a thorough independent public inquiry into the whole episode were not held. ‘We owe it to those who lost their lives and those injured that we know the whole truth, so that such tragedies do not reoccur’, he said. There are numerous questions which remained unanswered. While we are told, time and again, that the police foiled so many terrorist plots, what we are never told how it is that the police did not succeed in catching the very people who carried out 7/7 bombings in time. We also need to know why no cooperation was forthcoming from the community in Leeds, where the three terrorists came from. No less important is the role the intelligence services played in promoting and training of the jehadists since the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s.
